One visit, about an hour for most fireplaces, with everything below done and tested.
- Glass taken out and cleaned
- Pilot assembly and burner cleaned
- Logs or media checked and set right
- Thermocouple and thermopile tested
- Gas pressure and flame checked
- Vent and outside cap checked
- Blower fan cleaned and tested
- Gaskets, switch and remote checked
Good to know
Best before the first cold snap
Book in late summer or fall, before you need it every night. A service catches a weak thermocouple or thermopile while it’s a quick fix, not a cold evening with no fire.
White film on the glass is normal
Gas fireplaces leave a white haze on the inside of the glass. Left for years it etches in and won’t come off. Clean it only when the glass is cool, with a fireplace glass cleaner, not a household spray.
Logs have one right position
Moved or broken logs block the flame, which makes soot and can make carbon monoxide. Put them back the way the manual shows, or we set them during the service.
Keep a CO alarm nearby
Any gas fireplace should have a working carbon monoxide alarm on the same floor. Washington requires CO alarms outside sleeping areas and on each level of a home.

Gas fireplace service questions
How often should a gas fireplace be serviced?
Once a year, ideally before the heating season. Fireplace makers call for a yearly check, and the national fire code for chimneys, fireplaces and vents (NFPA 211) calls for an annual inspection.
What does a gas fireplace service include?
Cleaning the glass, pilot and burner, setting the logs, testing the thermocouple and thermopile, checking gas pressure and the flame, checking the vent and outside cap, and cleaning and testing the blower if it has one.
How long does a gas fireplace service take?
About an hour for most fireplaces. Inserts with a blower, or a fireplace that hasn’t been serviced in years, can take longer.
How much does a gas fireplace service cost?
It’s one flat price for the service, quoted when you book. If a part is worn, you get that price before anything is replaced, and you approve it first.
Why is there a white film on my fireplace glass?
It’s left behind by the flame and is normal. It comes off with fireplace glass cleaner when the glass is cool. Left for years, it can etch into the glass for good.
Should I turn the pilot off in summer?
You can. A standing pilot burns a little gas all year, so turning it off saves some. Some owners leave it on to keep moisture and spiders out of the pilot. Your manual says what your model prefers.
Do you clean wood-burning fireplaces or chimneys?
No. We do not sweep chimneys or work on wood-burning fireplaces. We service gas fireplaces, gas inserts and gas log sets.
How do I get my exact price?
Book online or call. A technician reaches out within 1 business hour and gives you the exact price for the service before the visit.
