Your heat pump runs 12 months a year — heating in winter, cooling in summer. That's twice the wear of a furnace. Annual tune-ups catch small problems before they become expensive ones.
Annual Tune-Up Report
System Health: Excellent
All checks passed
One tune-up covers both heating and cooling modes — your heat pump gets a complete checkup every visit.
Heat pumps run year-round. That extra wear adds up fast without regular service.
Every tune-up follows a comprehensive checklist. Nothing gets skipped.
Measured and compared to factory spec. Low charge kills efficiency and damages the compressor.
Cleaned and inspected for corrosion. Dirty coils reduce capacity and force the system to work harder.
Tightened and tested. Loose wires cause arc faults, tripped breakers, and premature component failure.
Verified for proper timing and temperature. A failed defrost board means ice buildup and no heat in winter.
Checked for accuracy. A thermostat off by even 2 degrees causes unnecessary cycling and wasted energy.
Flushed and cleared. A clogged drain leads to water damage, mold growth, and system shutdowns.
Static pressure tested across the system. Restricted airflow is the leading cause of compressor failure.
High-pressure switch, low-pressure cutout, and contactor tested. These protect your system from catastrophic damage.
Most homeowners schedule once a year. If your heat pump is your only system, twice a year is ideal.
Before the cooling season begins. We focus on the components that matter most for summer performance.
Before the heating season starts. We verify the components that keep your home warm through winter.
"Had our heat pump tuned up before winter. The tech found a loose wire on the contactor that would have failed within weeks. Glad we caught it early. Professional and thorough."
"Five years of annual tune-ups with Next Phase. My heat pump runs like new and my energy bills haven't crept up at all. That's the whole point of maintenance, and they deliver."
"Tech arrived on time, spent about an hour going through everything, and showed me photos of the coil before and after cleaning. First company that's actually explained what they're doing."
"Our Carrier heat pump is 14 years old and still going strong. Annual maintenance is the only reason. Next Phase has been servicing it since year one. Highly recommend."
"Scheduled a spring tune-up and they found low refrigerant. Topped it off and checked for leaks — all good. Without the tune-up, my AC would have struggled all summer."

At minimum once a year. Because heat pumps run in both heating and cooling modes, many manufacturers recommend twice a year — once in spring before cooling season and once in fall before heating season. If you only do one, fall is the priority in the Seattle area.
In most cases, yes. Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Mitsubishi, and Daikin all require proof of annual professional maintenance to honor warranty claims. If a compressor fails at year 7 and you have no service records, the claim will likely be denied.
We check refrigerant levels, clean both coils, tighten electrical connections, test the defrost cycle, verify thermostat calibration, flush the condensate drain, measure airflow, and test all safety controls. The full visit takes about 60–90 minutes.
You can and should change your air filter every 1–3 months and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, grass, and debris. Everything else — refrigerant, electrical, coil cleaning, defrost testing — requires a licensed technician and specialized tools.
With annual professional maintenance, 18–22 years is typical in the Seattle area. Without it, most heat pumps start having major issues between 10–12 years. Regular service is the single biggest factor in system longevity.
Book your annual heat pump tune-up. We'll inspect every component, catch anything that's wearing, and keep your system running at peak performance.
