What we fix
Trane and American Standard heat pumps.
- Not heating, or cold air in heat mode
- Iced over or stuck in defrost
- Not cooling in summer
- Running nonstop
- Reversing valve and defrost board
- Refrigerant leaks and low charge
Good to know about Trane
Steam is usually normal
In winter a heat pump stops its fan and melts its own ice every so often. The steam looks alarming but is normal. Ice that builds up and stays is not.
Refrigerant matters now
Newer Trane heat pumps use R-454B, which ran short and got expensive in 2025. Older ones use R-410A, which can still be repaired. We find a leak before refilling anything.
Trane ductless is Mitsubishi
Trane owns half of the company that sells Mitsubishi ductless systems in the US, so a Trane ductless unit may be Mitsubishi hardware. We repair both.

Trane heat pump repair questions
Do you repair a Trane heat pump you didn’t install?
Yes. Trane asks for repairs by a licensed service provider, not a particular dealer.
My Trane blows cold air in heat mode. Why?
It may be in defrost, which lasts a few minutes. If it stays cold, it is usually the reversing valve, the defrost board, or low refrigerant.
Can my old R-410A heat pump still be repaired?
Yes. R-410A systems are not illegal to repair. Refrigerant prices have gone up, so we fix the leak before refilling.
How much does a heat pump repair cost?
Typical Western Washington heat pump repairs run $150–$800. Industry range, not a quote. Your exact price comes upfront and you approve it first.
